Fellow Old Guard Members, Family and Soldiers
Can you believe it's only four months until the 21st Annual Reunion of your Old Guard Association. Our 20th Reunion was one to remember, but now we're going to reach even higher and go one better. This year we'll have all the ceremonies and activities that you have come to expect along with exceptional enhanced offerings.
Let's start with Saturday evening banquet. Our own Brett Reistad will be the keynote speaker at the dinner. As most of you know Brett is a past President of the Association and contributed many hours as our Membership Chairman. Brett is the leading candidate to be the 2018-2019 National Commander of the American Legion.
The optional Thursday tour promises to be one of our best ever with a full day spent visiting the US Capitol Building, having lunch in the Capitol dining room, and then moving on to an afternoon stop at the fascinating Newseum. The Newseum, located right on historic Pennsylvania Avenue, is a dynamic, engaging interactive museum of news that allows visitors to experience the stories of yesterday and today through the eyes of the media while celegrating the freedoms guaranteed to all Americans by the First Amendment.
For the President's Reception on Thursday evening Vice President Phil Godfrey has already been working feverishly to secure both interesting and desirable items for the live and silent auctions. Flip has vowed to surpass the outstanding job he did last year when the auctions raised more then $3,000 to be used in support of the soldiers of the Regiment. Your support of the auction is what makes it all possible and we certainly look forward to having you there.
The Reunion will once again be held at the beautiful and convenient Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel where we've been able to secure a well below market room rate of $129 per night with free parking and in room wi-fi included.
Come for some fun and fellowship with those who shared your experiences in the best Regiment in the Army. We'll see you in the Hospitality Room where the beer and wine are always flowing and always part of the registration cost.

The U.S. Capitol and Newseum Tour
Our guided tour of the historic Capitol will begin at one of the Capitol Visitor Center’s orientation theaters with a 13-minute film, "Out of Many, One," which will take you on a journey through our country's struggle to establish the world's first truly representative democracy and introduce you to the magnificent building that houses our Congress. Inside the US Capitol, visitors will see the Crypt, the Rotunda, and National Statuary Hall and many other things. There is a gift shop there as well and we will have lunch at the Capitol.
