On October 2, 2009 my husband Col. John E. Jessup was inducted in the Association of the Old Guard as a Honorary & Distinguished Member of the Regiment. I was not notified that he was nominated nor was I notified of the award. Therefore, I did not have the opportunity to attend the ceremony honoring my deceased husband. Your comments on your procedures would be appreciated as I was under the assumption that The Old Guard was the epitome of protocol procedures and I was saddened that I was not included in this event.Jean D. TOGA MEMBER NEED RIDE. I received a call from Dominick Varrialle, who served in Ceremonial Company in 1947-48 and was also a Sentinel at TUS, that he needs a ride from Union Station in Washington, DC, to the Sheraton National on 1 October. The Sheraton does not have a shuttle that runs from the hotel to Union Station and the cost of a cab to the hotel could cost about $40.00. If any of our TOGA members residing in the DC, Northern Virginia, or Montgomery/Prince Georges County area of Maryland can help Dominick, give him a call at 631-265-2004. He estimates that he would be leaving NY City around 0700 and arriving in DC o/a 1200. Thanks. Pete McDermottPete McDermott07/20/2009
